1985 900 turbo coupe Rally Car "The Green Machine" car arrives removing interior donor 900t old engine out rollcage in rally motor motor, seats in it drives! suspension final prep at rally school light bar The Roll cage is installed! Well this is very exciting! It's a milestone achievement: The Roll cage has been welded into the shell. What started out as a standard 6 point bolt in cage has been changed into a fully welded 10 point roll cage. The cage is welded to the car in 10 distinctly different places. This makes for a very stiff and safe shell! As you can see it's quite a cage- tied in to the car at 10 different locations. The front hoop main attachment point and the door bar. The roof box needs tabbing to be SCCA Rally legal. Front view of the roof box tabbing. The main hoop also has the harness bar welded to it (this is what our seat harnesses are looped around. A shot of the Main hoop tabbing. These tabs are added to increase the strength in a rollover incident. The cage fully protects both driver and co-driver. The rear leg mounting points were boxed to account for the difference in length from the 99 to the 900.. The main hoop is welded to the B-pillars for added strength and rigidity.
