The drivers footwell rust needs a professional repair, as it also runs into the main underbody beam for the firewall. A quote from the cage builder to take care of this rust is favourable and the decision is made to go ahead and prep the shell: The interior removed, after scraping the soundproffing off we discovered a little rust here and there The rear compartment and trunk area, roll cage and spare tyre(s) will go here Most likely the stock dashboard will be used the ignition, e-brake and shift linkage will remain exposed. here you can see the rust in drivers footwell, the only bad rust. the main structural beam for the rear seats, good place to save some weight. there is actually very little rust. what rust is there is easily repaired.- such as this rust in the drivers footwell. what you see through the hole is a main unibody beam agian, a shot of the drivers footwell rust the other rust we found was in the toolkit/spare tyre well in the trunk luckily not a load bearing part of the car some simple cut and weld metal plating will repair this and a generous hand with some por-15 more shots of the trunk rust. © 2004 Team Saabworks
